Stars reflected on to the lake.

I’ve been thinking about distance,

Tracing constellations like ribbons.

They draped around my existence.

And all my thoughts came rushing in,

Some kind of hallucinogen.

Staring into a midnight sky

When something made me cry.

And I can’t tell what it was.

It just had to come out.

“Take a drink, don’t look down.”

I saw eyes in the sky,

Across the glistening lake.

I’m stuck between this exchange.

And all my thoughts came rushing in,

Some kind of hallucinogen.

I heard a song with an eerie sound.

She said, “be whatever you want.”

And for that moment,

It felt like I could.

I took a deep breath,

And this trip kept going.

I was freaking out,

More than I was showing.

I looked at the lake

When it returned my reflections.

And then a door opened to all my fears.

Everything wrong with me appeared.

My friend was laughing at the sky.

Some nautical mystic mermaid flew by.

She had the biggest smile I ever saw.

I looked up to see a ghost.

It waved Hi as it gently walked by.

I tripped and took it on the chin.

Flashbacks came like shattered

Waves hitting the coast.

I felt like surrendering

To my emotions.

Praying to my youth’s devotion.

That one day he will feel happy again.

Like his first touch of the Pacific.

I’m about to dive in.

A nostalgic sounding song came on.

I imagined a swan gently riding along.

Then I saw my family looking over me.

A hospital bedridden dream.

What was that supposed to mean?

Did I die or did I try?

I was holding their hands so tight.

At this point, nothing can shy me away.

A dream took a tailspin.

And all my thoughts came rushing in,

Some kind of hallucinogen.

I threw the dice.

For those few seconds,

My future looked bright.

A much different, hopeful sight.

I wish upon some shimmering light.
